In this workshop, you will learn how faculty can work with Affordable Learning Georgia (ALG) and UNG Press to collaboratively produce free, open-access textbooks for use in their own classes and beyond. Esther Morgan-Ellis will describe how she used ALG funding to lead a team of faculty in authoring a new music appreciation textbook, Resonances: Engaging Music in Its Time and Place (UNG Press, 2020). She will provide a step-by-step account of the entire process from grant application to book publication. Then she will lead participants in identifying areas of need in their departments and help them to plan the production of their own open-access pedagogical resources.
