AMNH scientist Camille Grohé studies the evolutionary history of aquatic carnivores, including otters, seals and sea lions. How and when did their land-dwelling ancestors first take to the water? By comparing the inner ears of modern and extinct carnivores, Grohé finds signs of transition to an aquatic environment.
